Matt Pressberg is a former financial analyst turned journalist, trying to bring fresh stories and insights on American and international politics, economics and cultural issues.
Matt has 6 years’ private equity and real estate transaction experience. He has served as the lead analyst on the purchases of a Las Vegas-based provider of plumbing and HVAC services and a Honolulu, Hawai’i-based waste management company. Matt also has experience writing financial reporting and investor correspondence, and is substantially fluent in financial and accounting concepts and terminology.
Matt is a National Merit Scholar and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, majoring in International Relations. He has been active in his support of charities and political causes and is a 2010 alumnus of the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles’ New Leaders Project, where he worked alongside other young professionals to analyze and promote solutions to civic and community issues.
Matt is an avid traveler, often preferring to head to off-the-beaten-path destinations where English menus are few and far between to better appreciate the local experience. This tendency has on occasion caused Matt to experience some unintended adventures, but spontaneous exploration with uncertain consequence is not at all uncomfortable for him. As a consequence of his travels, Matt is also a strong advocate for high-speed rail as well as streamlined visa procedures to make it easier for Americans to see the world and vice versa.
